Late trip Update 2-downtown Kampala + Mosque + Kasubi tombs

On another curiousity weekend...Our now familiar driver was inclined to take us around town.
We really wanted to see the Famous Kasubi Tomb, one of the most revered Kingdoms. Unfortunately few days while we were in Kampala, the Tomb was burned down, so It was a sad moment for many from that kingdom.

Downtown Kampala (market)

Mosque-Gaddafi's gift to Ugandan muslims
True story: we were not allowed to come out of the car because we were women and not covering our hair...and I had pants on, so go figure.

next: Kasubi Tombs
after the cold shoulder at the mosque, we went off to see the Tombs from the Buganda kingdom's Kasubi tombs.
Below is what it looked like before it burnt down.
The entrance(above)

Yes, I had to wear this wrap for the traditional experience (no pants allowed for women)
and this was what it looked like after the fire...I was sad for them- a kingdom reduced to crooked bars and piles of dirth.

The tour guide gave us some interesting details about the buganda Kingdom and how the next king were chosen...fascinating fact is that the first male son is never to become the king.

So sad that you weren't able to see the tombs, but I trust that your overall experience was memorable. By the way, love the wrap!!!

You bet it was disappointing Candace... they actually wouldn't let visitors in the first week that it happened, so I'm glad that I got to see it at all.

Oh the wrap...I had to, I cld have tied it better.
But thanks for the sweet comment.
